Printable Design Layout Sheet
Your website is divided into 3 core areas - Header, Body, and Footer.
Most websites will have design elements that fit into each of those areas.
One variable is where you put your main navigation. The two most common
places are in the header or on the left side.
A sample of Header-Based main navigation is our website - LiveMediaSolutions.com
, Weather.com,
or Apple.com.
Sites with predominately Left-Hand navigation would be MSNBC.com,
or Zedo.com.
Finding a websites with only Right-Hand navigation is much harder.
The closest samples we found in our search of popular sample sites was
Monster.com,
and HP.com
(HP Computers).
Most large sites use a combination of Header and Left-Hand core navigation.
Two websites that combine styles are Amazon.com,
and CNet.com
They have header-based navigation but also use left and right columns
for navigation.
Unless you have a tremendous amount of content and pages,
you should be able to choose one location for your main navigation. As
your site grows we may opt for a more comprehensive navigation scheme. We can build your website to accomidate any layout style
you desire.
Using the Design Form
Your form is divided into the 3 core sections. We've drawn in the left
and right columns in the body as a guide, but kept the color light so
you can draw over the top of the lines if your layout concept won't use
them. Just print this form and sketch a basic layout of how you envision
the layout of your website. It doesn't have to be fancy. When we meet
in person we can determine which layout will work best for your individual
situation and website objective.
